It’s rapidly changing to high season here in Belize.
But in all the winter hysteria, there’s an incredible feeling of tranquility, resolve, and determination. That’s particularly true in and all around Kanantik Belize. We’re going to tell you about some of it.
There’s terrific news from just below Kanantik on the Belize coast, where Norwegian Cruise Lines new Harvest Caye resort island has just opened up. We’ve had a very informative conversation with the COO of the Coldwell Banker Belize Real Estate Affiliates who has opened a welcome center right on Harvest Caye. Charmaine Voss is an invaluable source of information for anyone who has bought or is considering buying, in Belize.
We’ve also got some quick notes on events coming up, near Kanantik, and elsewhere in Belize for the rest of what promises to be a very beautiful Winter-season.
Meet the New Mango Springs/Kanantik Belize CFO
In November of this year, Sharon Chase was announced as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Mango Springs Development where she’ll be taking over as head of financial oversight for the entirety of the financial side of Kanantik Belize. A licensed Certified Public Accountant and a member of the AICPA, Chase received her business degree focused on accounting from the University of California at Los Angeles.
She began her career as an auditor and later moved fulltime to the tax team, with Price Waterhouse/Coopers & Lybrand, now part of PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Much of her career has been focused on tax-accounting – including public accounting and in the private sector for real estate developers, with an investment firm, and at a large multi-family office handling the accounting and tax needs of families. Chase is also on the board of Circulo de Amigas, which helps Nicaraguan girls to remain in school and to break the cycle of poverty.
In her free time, Sharon enjoys traveling, stand-up paddleboarding, hot air ballooning, kayaking, hiking, baking and exercising with her workout buddies. With her husband, Eric, Chase has raised three adult children.
The Kanantik Clubhouse
Many of the earliest buyers at Kanantik have been on the edge of their seats over the Golf Course! Of course, as the first real 18-hole championship golf course in the country it was bound to turn some heads.
But perhaps more intriguing than all those rolling acres of green, even for those of us who love to play, is the Clubhouse that sits in the center of it all, and in some sense, in the center of the entire development.
The Clubhouse at Kanantik is intended to work not only as a visual focus but as the heart of the community too. We put together some of the plans and drawings that a lot of people haven’t seen yet from the architectural and landscape planners so that you can get a better idea of how special it’s going to be. Just click here, and try to take it all in…
Harvest Caye – November 2016 Opening
We announced last time – with some well-deserved fanfare – that Norwegian Cruise Lines will be opening their own long-awaited Belize island resort. It’s turning out to be even more beloved than many had anticipated. No longer tendering in Belize City as a few other cruise lines currently do, Norwegian Cruises, mostly those originating in Miami and New Orleans, will now pull up to a very long pier attached to Harvest Caye.
Harvest Caye is billed as a private resort island, and the pier means that passengers can simply walk from the ship, and into the heart of the island resort. You can see more in the video below.
“For Kanantik owners looking for the perfect investment/vacation home, it’s perfect timing.”
Kanantik spoke with the director of the Coldwell Banker Belize office in Placencia, where they’ve handled some of the properties at Kanantik. And business is booming… Coldwell Banker will be offering full Vacation Property Management Services at Kanantik as they do at other locations throughout the Placencia area.
Charmaine Voss left a very successful business in Southern California for Belize’s booming vacation and tourism market in 2012.
Current Owners Spotlight
“Once you get there and see how quiet and special it is, you appreciate the area even more.”
We spoke with current Kanantik Belize owners, Joe & Louise, from Hendersonville, Tennessee. Click here to see their full story.
Winter Calendar – 2016 / 2017 in Belize
There are lots of good reasons to visit in the next few months. Here are just a few of the highlights.
January Owners Weekend – January 27th – 31st, 2017
Start the new year off right with an Owners Weekend just for Kanantik Owners and their friends. We’ve planned some special activities, and a good few days of organized tours not just of the Kanantik Resort grounds but of the islands and surrounding cayes, too! If you’re interested in joining us, please contact Arysbet Pena at Arysbet.Pena@kanantikbelize.com
Annual Boat Lighting Parade – December 17, 2016
It’s the Annual Boat Lighting Parade in San Pedro. It’s the biggest holiday event in Ambergris Caye; a parade of boats lit up and many of them from organizations and businesses working all over the area. It’s always an eye-opening seaside experience.
BOXING DAY – December 26, 2016
It’s Boxing Day in Belize – as in a very few other parts of the once Great British Empire. Still very much a day for charitable giving all over the country, for lots of folks it’s still a good time to relax and share what you’re lucky enough to share.
Carnival! – February 22, 2017
Ash Wednesday is on March 1st and that means – for most of us – a whole week of Carnival Celebrations leading up to the long Lenten season. In San Pedro, everyone gets “painted” on the streets, but bigger celebrations take place in Corozal and Orange Walk, and at Ambergris and Caye Caulker Cayes. All over Belize, it’s a terrific time of year.
ARTS & MUSIC FESTIVAL – February 11 & 12th, 2017
It’s the Placencia Sidewalk Arts & Music Festival – One of the winter highlights of life in Southern Belize, every year’s Placencia Festival is bigger than the last. Follow the organizer’s Facebook for news as exhibitors and performers sign on.
